Focus on Microscopy 2026
Image: Julius TrautmannFocus on Microscopy (FOM) 2026 is a long-standing international conference series dedicated to the latest innovations and developments in optical microscopy, with applications in biology, medicine, and materials science. The 2026 meeting took place in Stockholm and covered topics including super-resolution microscopy, adaptive optics, advanced fluorescence imaging, spectroscopy, and quantitative image analysis.
At the conference, two members of the RTG MMM, Julius Trautmann and Pia Pritzke, presented their research. Julius Trautmann gave a talk titled “Adaptive Optics for Systematic Aberration Analysis and Correction in STED and (STED-)FCS,” focusing on how adaptive optics can be used to systematically analyze and correct optical aberrations in super-resolution microscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy. Pia Pritzke presented a poster titled “Benchmarking MINFLUX-based Single-Particle Tracking Across Microscopy Platforms,” addressing the comparison and validation of advanced single-particle tracking approaches across different microscopy systems.
The conference provided an excellent platform for scientific exchange on high-resolution imaging, quantitative microscopy, and new optical methods, highlighting the relevance of advanced microscopy development for the interdisciplinary research of the RTG MMM.
